One step at a time

best day ever :)

When I was given Snoopy’s prognosis in May of 2-3 months I couldn’t believe it. As time passed and September came my only wish was that I would have Snoopy on my birthday. Well here’s my birthday and my tripawd pup is sitting on the couch right next to me. I couldn’t ask for a better birthday. Thanks Snoopy Loopy! My best girl. 🙂

Anyway, recovery is still going really well. I’ve noticed her surgery site is leaking a little bit, but other than that she’s great! She can hop on the couch now, and with a little help can even hop on my bed. I can’t wait for the staples to come out so we can go for a walk 🙂 I think that she’d like that. I also can’t wait for the staples to come out so she can get a bath! Goodness me, its all i think about. She’s a stinker.

Murphy (the four legged dog in the family) is staying at my parents during her recovery, but I think its about time that he come back home. Yay! I’ve missed him too.

Hey other tripawd havers – what should i do about stairs? I can’t afford one of those harnesses with the handle on the back that they sell on here, and they don’t seem to sell them in any pet stores by me. Any suggestions?

Hoppy Birthday!!!! Having your girl with you is the best present ever! So glad you got your birthday wish.

I am glad to hear recovery is still going well. Is the draining from seromas? If memory serves me correctly, you are a vet tech? If so, that must be good if you can get some extra special free advise at work ;0)

A suggestion that was made to us was a cloth grocery shopping bag, with the sides cut out. Or a towel. You can kind of scoop them up by their underbelly to offer them support as they are learning to deal with the stairs. I think the grocery bag was suggested instead of the towel because of the handles for us =)

Amazingly, they figure out the stairs quickly. They just need some support and confidence building in the beginning.

Ear scratches to Snoop! And hopefully Murph will be coming home soon, too!

here’s a suggestion about the harness. go the forum topic entitles ‘angel exchange’ and see if anyone has any harnesses they are willing to pass along that might fit your pup. seems to me that daisy the dalmation who just crossed the bridge had a few harnesses that her mom was trying to find new homes for. it’s a way for the community to give back, by helping those that are new to the experience.

snoop sounds like she’s doing very well (we’d be cautious of jumping up on the bed yet…geesh, but then we are cautious here in ET) it will be much better without staples, for sure. how about some pictures, especially when murphy gets home and the whole family is together!!

Happy Birthday! And congrats on Snoopy’s speedy recovery!

Poko has been a little shy with the 1 step he has to get by to go in and out. I just let him take his time, and encourage him. He also gets a small treat everytime he goes in and out. Probably spoiling him, but he definitely deserves it the first part of recovery.

So very happy to hear about Snoopy’s progress!!! I have to giggle just a little…because my Boss’s name is Snoopy. But that is all I can say about that. 😉

Happy Birthday!! I was not privvy to Pegz’s learning process but I can testify that she works the stairs like nobody’s business. I am betting the Snoopster will do just fine!!

Ooooh! So YOURE the lucky one that adopted trio! She was soooo wonderful! Nice! I came to this site when you sent that update about her saying that she was doing well and had her own blog. Yay! I’m still figuring out how this site works. Haha.

Thanks for the advice! Im happy to hear that she does steps well. I think snoopy will learn, but there arent many places for her to learn. I don’t have any stairs in my house except the ones she uses to get on the bed. I would take her over to my parents and use theirs but she doesn’t get along with their resident dog. I think it’s random, but funny that your boss’ name is snoopy. How weird/random!

Do you mean “really” about coming for stair practice? Yes! I think it would be fun…are you interested in a playdate? We have many steps for practicing. We also have a quadpawd named Chaz (black lab mix)and a resident feline who rules the roost. Do you think it might work?

I’m not sure who wrote that one, but I would love to borrow your stairs and have a playdate. You can email me and we can talk about it! My email is Jillian.michelle@gmail.com 🙂

Yes!! Trio had a name change somewhere along the foster route and we decided to keep it as Pegz.

Or Princess Pegzy Petunia, which is my favorite variation.

Please give Snoopy our love and best wishes and hugs. You are welcome to come and practice on our stairs any time. 🙂
